Mirene Elton and Mauricio Léniz have definitely proven their skills in the field of Architecture and Design. Located in the fifth region of El Pangue Road in Chile, Casa El Pangue is merely one of the many extraordinary residential projects the duo has delivered over the last decade. The unlimited view of the Pacific Ocean in combination with the strict geometrical lines, provide the owners an imposing, yet inviting environment, where the sense of calmness and relaxation dominates. The 'El Pangue' house consists of 4 tiered levels and 3 terraces, developed around a vertical circulation path which takes full advantage of the breathtaking view offered by the steep slope.

The layout of the residence is simple but effective. The main entrance of the house is located on the lower level of the building along with the parking zone, storage areas and an open shower, bringing memories from our childhood when every single corner of the house was used in order to increase fun and playfulness. On the upper level, all public zones are cleverly organised to fulfill day to day needs such as the kitchen area, dining room, living room and playroom without compromising the luxury of the stunning views from every room in the house. The master bedroom and other bedrooms are designated on the third level which complete the first zone of the residence, easily identified by the vast use of concrete. The fourth and final level however, defines a new approach to this elegant concept, introducing a whole new zone clad in wood. Like many other details concerning this project, the selection of wood is not random. Elton and Leniz used this particular type of wood due to its property which will take on a grayish tint over the years, matching the concrete and becoming a vivid part of the environment. It is in this last zone where the architects have wisely placed the living room, which is surrounded by planters and flower pots, avoiding the use of conventional railings, thereby subtly merging it into its surroundings.

Stone, ceramic tiles and bricks are some of the secondary but equally essential materials applied to the house, achieving a complete composition with fine details. Furthermore, the residence’s interior design also follows the initial guidelines using simple, straight lines and minimal furnishings. Casa El Pangue is a privileged project not only because of its location or the 2,093 m2 site area but also because of its sophisticated architecture that makes it unique and memorable.
