유니크한 형상만큼 독특한 소재의 결합으로 오닉스 쇼파는 디자인된다. 3미터 길이의 세련된 형상과 거친 자연그대로의 형상은 같은 면상에서 만나 접합, 디자인의 이종접합을 구현한다. 이러한 디자인의 구현은 하이테크놀로지가 투영된 카본파이어와 로우 테크 -사람이 일일이 정을 이용해 다듬은-의 볼빅 라바의 만남으로 이루어 진다.
볼빅 라바: 화산재 또는 용암이 오랜시간동안 서서히 굳은 석재의 종류로 현무암과 비슷한 성질을 띈다.
