테크놀로지 센터가 지향하는 건축의 방향은 건축물이 풍기는 건축외형에 적나라하게 표현된다. 이것은 확연히 구분된 두개의 공간; 상층부와 저층부의 지향점에 표현된다. 이를 실현하는 12,000sqm 면적의 사이언스와 테크놀로지는 이곳에 상주하는 학생들에게 열린교육과 다양한 연구시설 속에 제공된다. 구조는 앞서 말한 것과 같이 메시브한 콘크리트 포디움과 버티컬 우드 루버로 디자인된 상층부, 두개의 공간으로 구성된다. 여기에 저층부 윈도우는 적극적인 내부 프로그램의 발현으로 불규칙 패턴을 보이지만 사실 건축물 중심부에 위치한 아트리움의 대형 커튼월과 함께 전체 공간을 연속시키는 통로 역활을 수행한다. 이러한 연속된 공간은 각 개실을 연결하는 동시에 확장된 오픈스페이스를 생성하며 테크놀로지 센터가 지향하는 건축환경을 강렬한 메타포로 실현한다.

designed by paris-based badia berger architectes based on a winning competition entry, the mantois technology center has been completed as the first phase in a university development project in mantes-la-ville. the 12,000 square-meter program unites science and technology learning and research facilities, and is intended to accommodate 1,500 students. the structure is composed of two distinct building elements: a concrete base level and an elevated volume clad in vertically-oriented wood louvers. the former’s façade is visually porous, with an irregular arrangement of windows and a large glass-clad atrium which links it to the upper mass.
the condensed research facility brings together students and researchers from different fields under the open subject of ‘mechatronics’, relating to specific areas such as automobiles, home automation, and reduced mobility accompaniment.
