5osA 2014. 2. 1. 14:00

at maison et objet 2014, spanish designer jaime hayon presented his latest series of ceramic pieces for italian company bosa. made entirely by hand using artisanal crafting techniques and laboratory-controlled glazes, the collection of work ranges from wall sculptures, side tables and miniature figurines meticulously enriched with precious metals decorations.

‘living cultures that have impressed me and I wanted to reinterpret their spirit with my vision and with the hand of bosa have become wonderful sculptures by outstanding quality,’ says hayon. ‘for “maskhayon” I was influenced by my own world, and by my recognizable iconography, which I cultivated during my last 12 years of work.’ measuring up to half a meter in size, the wall sculptures, a bear, monkey and elephant, represent the fusion of imaginary and animal-like characters in our immediate surroundings.

functional, simple and organic, the T-table is easy to hold and move around. meant as an auxiliary small table to be placed near a chair, sofa or lounger, it can be used both as support and as a decor element. the T-table can be set alone or in a pack, remniscent of mushrooms in a forest.

‘a table-top sized sculpture that symbolizes the importance of an optimistic approach to what lies ahead. the ‘hope bird’ stands proud and straight with a dynamic watch-out position toward the horizon, inviting us to reflect on the importance of staying positive to what the future may bring.’ - jaime hayon
