less is more, 단순함 만큼 아름다운 것도 없다. 최소한의 기능만 담는다. 신용카드 크기에 기존 스마트폰과 연동되는 라이트 폰이 킥스타터를 통해 제안된다. 20일가량 별도 충전없이 사용가능하며, 향후 100달러 선에서 시판할 예정이다. 어쩌면 너무 많은 담기 위해 우리가 그 이상을 보지 못하는 것처럼, 불필요한 것들은 적절히 버리는 것이 맞다.

why does the information age have to be so exhausting? ever since the invention of the smartphone, consumers have been flooded with pings, alerts, text messages, emails and unwanted phone calls. ‘the light phone’ is a discreet, credit card sized phone designed to be minimally disconnected, without leaving the user completely stranded. founded by artist joe holler and product designer kaiwei tang, the project was born at google’s ’30 weeks’ incubator – an experimental collaboration between google and hyper island that turns designers into founders through mentorship. the phone has 20 days of battery life, app integration that allows users to forward calls from their existing phone and stores up to 10 numbers on speed dial. light enables complete disconnection from notifications and distractions to focus on the moments at hand. ‘light’ tells time, makes and receives calls, is four millimeters thick and weighs only 38.5 grams. the light phone is currently running a campaign on kickstarter. with a pledge, the device costs $100 USD.
