[ menis arquitectos ] auditorium and congress center in morro jable

spanish architecture studio menis arquitectos has been awarded 1st prize for the design of the auditorium
and congress center in morro jable. the center is located on a rocky hillside right above the  beaches south
fuerteventura. the building will be embedded into the terrain, emerging from within the rocks. the design
of the whole structure has been deliberately textured, coloured and finished to recall the broken rock of the
hillside. the design is intended to be flexible, conforming to the various events that will take place within;
the architect’s describe it as a ‘sponge building’. the project is set for completion in 2012.
