[ DeStefano and Partners ] Yinzhou Fantasy Island

DeStefano and Partners have created a new commercial center for Ninbgo, China.  Extending the existing canal system, the Yinzhou Fantasy Island master plan fuses the current wetlands and parks with the commercial aspects of the city as a way to balance the ecological with the cultural.  The plan will not only include retail areas, but also entertainment, business, leisure and cultural facilities placed strategically along pedestrian boulevards in close proximity to mass transit systems.

A strong concept for the plan includes the Eight International Shopping Streets which will feature the world’s most prominent retail avenues.  The island will also include the Infinity Tower, a 200 meter tall five star hotel and luxury service apartments to house the island’s temporary guests.

Outdoor space is interwoven among the exhibition spaces, galleries and theatres of the Performing Arts Island.  The green areas will allow the cultural activities to expand past their immediate structures to influence the  whole community as outdoor gatherings, festivals and celebrations will occur throughout the year.
