In 2008 Urban Art Projects’ collaborated with Landscape Architects Conics and PDT Architects for the development of the Northshore Hamilton Riverside Park located on the site of Brisbane’s old wharves, transforming the site from an area previously dominated by concrete and asphalt in to an expansive 2.5 hectare space for local communities to enjoy.
UAP were engaged to develop multiple integrated artwork and furniture components for the parkland which included the commissioning of recognised indigenous artist Fiona Foley who intuitively used the region’s flora and fauna to develop a range of playscapes titled ‘Little Treasures’ and artist Jennifer Marchant who referred to the sites rich history to develop a graphical timeline which was sand blasted on to the sites concrete pavers.
Urban Art Projects’ Principal Daniel Tobin collaborated with PDT Architects’ Brant Matthew Tate to develop an artwork screen for the parkland café’s exterior based on the local mangroves whilst UAP designer Kylie Bickle developed a range of street furniture to integrate in to Conics’ Landscape Architects design. The collaboration resulted in a successful result activating a decommissioned industrial space in to a vibrant public space for the local community to enjoy.
