스펙트럼 필름지
사각형 박스 안에 설치된 필름지는 영원히 순환되는
동선과 커다란 보이드를 형성한다.
보행자는 순환되는 동선을 따라 이동하며
투영과 반사를 불규칙적으로 일으키는 스펙트럼 현상을
경험하면 공간의 다양함을 느끼게 된다.
이와 같은 공간이 우리에게 이야기하는 것은 무엇일까?
거창한 수식어로 설명할 수는 없지만 우리가 디자인하는 입면의
얇디 얇은 그 껍데기를 은유적으로 비유하며 비쥬얼적인 측면으로
치우쳐 내부 공간을 보지 못하는 디자인경향을 비꼽는 것이 아닐까 싶다.
그 얇은 막 하나로 우리는 내부의 커다란 공간을 보지 못하기 때문이다.

'meeting' was conceived by japanese architect yo shimada of tato architects and designed by ichiro hashimoto of s3 associates for the kobe biennale. the work is comprised of a curtain, formed from optically processed film of 35mm hung from an oval ring; a white-painted rectangular perimeter enclosing the curtain; and mirrors angled at 45° for each of the four corners towards the oval curtain. the viewer enters the space through an opening in the piece, continuing around the oval corridor. their movement sways the curtain and the viewer's reflection flickers across the film and mirrors in their quest through the seemingly endless passageway.
