It's your classic high street Mexican restaurant - with a punchy, geometric twist.
Tasked with over-hauling British restaurant chain Chimichanga, the designers at London-based Brown Studio say they were inspired by Aztec and Mayan patterns, as well as contemporary Mexican street life.
The
result, in this location in Billericay, is a two-floored restaurant
rendered in bold red and green – with shiny glass tiles, patterned
floors of reclaimed wood, and walls of cracked antique mirrors. Ceilings
inspired by temples and colourful lighting fixtures complete the
geometric look, alongside a lime-green wall overlaid with blocks of
wood.
It’s not exactly understated, and the cacophony of colours
could prove too much for some diners. But over a plate of nachos and a
daquiri on a Friday night, there's plenty here to look at (and the
occasional potted cactus doesn't hurt either).
