학교 증축 프로젝트는 2가지 전략?에서 접근한다.

그것은 기존공간에서 추가적으로 필요로하는 시설물의 확충과 새로운 교육공간의 타입폴로지를 창출하는데 있다.

기존건축물, 학교로부터 직교한 두동의 새로운 건축물은 중정을 형성하며 나란히 평행으로 배치된다. 먼저 길다란 선형의 솔리드 볼륨은 인상적인 건축물의 외관으로 내부에 2개의 교실과 교수실 그리고 연구실로 구성된다. 여기에 외형적 특징을 잘 나타내는 그리드스틸메쉬는 외부 태양으로 부터 내부환경을 보호, 필터링하며 솔리드 볼륨을 캐릭터화 한다. -심플, 모던, 비물질성으로 새로운 타입폴로지를 제안한다.-

중정을 마주한 또다른 신축공간은 식당과 드레싱룸을 포함하는 웨어하우스로 학교내 각종 지원시설과 부대시설로 구성되며, 중정으로 확장 가능한 플렉서블한 공간적 성향을 띈다.

필요에 의한 지극히 기능적인 공간은 부가적인 장식물이 배제된 형태로 공간을 점유하며 기존공간과의 새로운 관계성을 형성한다. 이 관계성 속에 공간은 합성되고 자신의 자리를 찾아간다.

enlarging the existing school complex, javier de las heras solé + bosch tarrús arquitectes have provided two new structures to IES cap norfeu. the development is situated in roses, spain and the extension surrounds an existing, operating building. the concept follows two different strategies – projected out from the ground floor a new linear box sits on top of a solid base. this volume consists of two classrooms, the lab, teacher and tutorial department and is placed parallel to the warehouse. opening out to the schoolyard, the structure is framed by a lattice, which allows light to filter through. the second strategy sees the canteen-catering-bar, the dressing rooms, the alumni association, ampa and the warehouse all grouped in another form that helps to frame the courtyard. these new spaces follow the formal language of the existing building, while also providing the school with its required programs.
