고전과 미래의 만남, 세발 전기자동차
at the 2016 geneva motor show, automotive companies are taking on electric propulsion head-on. even morgan,
an independent british bespoke car manufacturer with a long tradition
of keeping true to its design heritage, has joined the evolution with
their interpretation – the ‘EV3’.
it will be the first production electric vehicle to be built by the company and takes shape in an entirely different perspective. the ‘EV3’ embraces technology, delivers a unique driving excitement and continues to celebrate traditional british craftsmanship.
‘times are changing, and morgan is doing it their own way,’ says managing director steve morris to designboom. ‘the EV3 will be an exciting step forward which still keeps the unique driving experience that we’re know for.’
following a small teaser, morgan was excited to reveal the final design with a restyled body and interior. weighing less than 500 kilograms, the all-electric three wheeler has a 20 KWh lithium battery with a range of 242 kilometers.
encased within the tubular space frame made of carbon fiber panels is a
water cooled 46kW motor driving the rear wheel. the body construction
utilizes a carbon bonnet, a protective cover, side pads and aluminum
panels, all of which are hand worked over an ash wood frame.
following their 1930s traditions, the face of the ‘EV3’ is designed to function.
brass conductive coolings fins surround the batteries and an off-centre
tri-bar headlight adds to the overall asymmetry of the design. an
entirely fresh dashboard arrangement features a classic ‘magneto’ switch
for drive selection, a digital screen, wood, brass and polished
aluminum. morgan plan to put the ‘EV3’ into production in the late
2016.
