휴식 삶의 여유를 선물하는 스윙체어. 정해진 룰, 디자인은 없다. 감각적, 즉흥적, 직관적인 디자인과 여유로운 마당 한켜가 필요할 뿐이다.
brazilian creatives including ruy ohtake and hugo frança have presented their designs for swing chairs as part of a new exhibition in sao paulo. the project aims to stimulate memories of childhood, where infants play in parks, squares, and other open environments. the curators claim that swings are a typology of furniture that has been largely forgotten by both manufacturers and professionals. consequently, the exhibition seeks to highlight their design characteristics and an associated sense of fun and adventure.
since 2013, museu da casa brasileira has been working in partnership with BOOMSPDESIGN to promote a series of chairs designed by brazilian designers and architects from different generations. located in the institution’s garden, the exhibition features a retrospective of 11 existing swings alongside the launch of two new designs from ruy ohtake and hugo frança. among others, this cycle of installations also includes: ‘bodocongó’ by sergio matos; ‘trama’, by renata moura; ‘noar’ by carol gay; ‘cocar’ by PAX.ARQ collective; and ‘amor perfeito’, by baraúna joinery.
swings are one of the furniture items that I like the most as it awakens many fond memories of my life,’ explains hugo frança. ‘in
my childhood, every house had a swing in the backyard, which was used
by all people, where they could play, rest or date someone. this is not
so common anymore, but I hope that we take up this habit, which invites
us to disconnect and bring us closer to nature’.
titled ‘projeto balanço’, the display remains open to the public until october 16, 2016. take a look at more of the designs below.
