ODA 뉴욕이 설계한 픽셀화된 콘크리트 개발은 특색있는 주거프로젝트로써, 뉴욕의 퀸즈 (Queens)에 위치한 일명 '2222 jackson'은 총 175개의 유닛과 다양한 편의시설을 갖춘 11층 건물이다. 도시구획 제약에 따라 테라스를 갖춘 일련의 압출된 콘크리트 용적으로 구성된 이 건물은 모듈식 접근으로 설계되었는데, 풋프린트보다 30% 증가된 실외공간을 제공하면서도, 건축면적으로도 향상된 유연성과 적응성을 제공한다. 3층 높이의 로비는 노출 콘크리트를 특징으로 하며, 이는 건물 외관과 일치된 모습을 보인다.

ODA new york has added to its portfolio of distinctive residential projects with a ‘pixelated’ concrete development just steps away from MoMA PS1 in long island city. located in queens, new york, ‘2222 jackson’ is an an 11-story complex, which contains a total of 175 units as well as a range of on site amenities. the form of the project responds to the city’s zoning constraints, resulting in an exterior that comprises a series of extruded concrete volumes topped with terraces.

conceived as a simple modular grid, ODA new york’s design comprises of a sequence of three simple units, each 12 feet wide. studio apartments are 32 feet in length, and occupy one bay, while the one and two bedrooms are each 25 feet long, occupying two and three bays respectively. the increased length of each studio apartment projects beyond the façade offering mid-facade ‘corner’ windows, as well as terraces for the units directly above.

this modular approach not only offers 30% more outdoor space than the un-manipulated footprint would have allowed, but also provides increased flexibility and adaptability in terms of construction. ‘we are always looking for opportunities to redefine some very fundamental aspects of what we’ve come to accept in urban living, and 2222 jackson was our first project with which we began to explore the concept of a vertical village,’ explains eran chen, founder and executive director of ODA new york.

internally, a triple-height lobby features exposed concrete, mimicking the building’s exterior. on site amenities include a sky-lit indoor pool and adjacent landscaped terrace, a residents’ lounge, and a fitness center, while a rooftop deck provides sweeping views of manhattan. each apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows, white oak flooring, custom stone countertops, and high-end appliances. residents also have access to valet parking, with washers and dryers on every floor.
