located on an evergreen hill in tsilivi, a small village in the greek island of zakynthos, the ‘olea all suite hotel’ develops around a 4000 sqm lake-like pool. designed by block722 architects+, the hotel comprises 93 luxury suites and a series of communal facilities that focus on natural techniques and materials. the result is a contemporary, peaceful retreat that combines mediterranean architecture with tropical modernism, seamlessly blending into the lush natural landscape that surrounds it.
part of the xenos hotels & resorts, olea all suite hotel evolves organically around the impressive, 4000 sqm pool that marks the tranquil, beating heart of the property. the element of water is present in various forms throughout the hotel, seamlessly connecting the indoors with the outdoors. many of the suites are complete with a private swimming pool, where guests can relax while enjoying views of the ionian sea or the hotel’s lavish green gardens.
‘the idea was to introduce a resort that embraces everything that makes this island so wonderful, but in a contemporary way,’ says venia xenou on behalf of the xenos hotels & resorts. ‘from its warm-hearted people and the unique ingredients of local cuisine, to the lush vegetation and the majestic beaches, zakynthos has just so many meaningful experiences to offer. olea utilises all the above and adds a bit of magic through modern, minimal design and an ever-present element of water.’
block722 architects+ developed olea’s design and concept with a great focus on the existing vegetation, which includes the venerable olive trees that have been standing on the site for centuries. the athens-based studio has used natural materials and techniques, such as rustic oak wood, bamboo, and rattan, harmoniously blending the hotel into the surrounding landscape. indoors and outdoors are connected in a seamless way, brining guests in touch with nature while allowing them to unwind and experience everything the resort has to offer.
