Why might we not put a bench here?
Why do we not have grass here?
Why is this space all empty?
Who has decided to paint it this colour?
Why is the park missing a normal entrance?
How can a wheelchair bound pass through?
Why do I always feel bad, when crossing the subway?
We have addressed architects, designers and artists, in fact everybody, who could be interested in, in order to try "to find and to heal" their problematic places in our city.
WELCOME TO CITY INTERVENTIONS
Its main idea was to try to find points, places and situations in our capital, which were considered working incorrectly res. bringing to its citizens less than they would have to. In many cases it is going on the places, which have been seemingly subject to a mass resignation and which have not been found offering a possibility of profit making. We would like to go far beyond their exploration; we would like to try to find and to propose some feasible solutions for them. We believe that small changes could sometimes (relatively often in the city context) bring a huge effect. Our project is a cross-point of several interests: city officers, but also citizens, architects and artists, amiable philosophists as well as top specialists. The project is not about generation of profits or bombastic promises; it should try to bring some changes.
Moreover, it is also the way of how to show our inactive city officers other actions and possibilities at the building of public premises. We are trying to turn the conventional city orders distribution method upside down and to help our city and its surroundings without any demands on reward and without waiting for an appeal. The project presentation will perhaps help the public opinion of people from Bratislava and the public perception of slovak architect as human erecting bad buildings without any moral doubts and changing the city image for short-term benefits to be reversed. The first round of our project should result in a book to be used as a certain catalogue, a gift for the city may be chosen from, but also to be sold to any interested person; the book should be focused on initiating of particular actions towards implementation of some ideas or towards opening of some discussions.
