earlier this year ryuichi ashizawa architects developed 'bamboo forest and huts with water' for the aqua metropolis osaka event. situated on a small island in the center of the city the project consisted of 7 temporary wooden buildings; one for holding workshops, one for daily art programs, one for lectures etc.
the forest which was made from curved bamboo acted as a floating roof covering 1200 square meters. the hut for the artist’s activity center was made from wood, where each joint was bolted, making it easy for assembly and dismantling.
