우드격자프레임 구조가 보여주는 단일감에서 오는
경쾌함은 심플함과 모던함을 넘어선다.
미스반데로우가 수평적공간에 대한
새로운 공간을 열었다면 지금의 스튜디오 파빌리온은
내부공간과 외부자연과의 자연스러운 조우를 디자인 하였다.
우드격자프레임은 공간을 구획하는 주요한 요소로 사용되는 동시에
구조제의 역활 그리고 내외부의 적절한 관계 유지를 위한
(패시브디자인을 위한 장치) 다목적 요소로 디자인 되었다.
계산된 격자의 오프닝 개수와 사이즈는 빛의
유입량 조절을 가능케 하여 내부의 조도를 일정하게 유지시킨다.
여기에 내부중정은 디자인적인 요소 뿐만 아니라
친환경적으로 빛과 자연환기를 유지시켜주는
중요한 역활을 수반한다.
공간과 디자인을 만족시키는 패시브 건축으로
플래닝된 커뮤니티 파빌리온은 그래서 우리에게
더 큰힘을 가져다 준다.

the 'woudestein student pavilion' is a collaborative proposal between amsterdam based NEXT architects and seoul based mass studies for the erasmus universiteit campus of rotterdam, netherlands. sited amongst a dense tree canopy, this location is the ideal place for students to congregate and relax. spaces are encased within an open wooden lattice facade to maintain outward views and a continued connection with nature from all interior spaces.
the cafe's outdoor seating is situated within a wrap around veranda blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior. meeting areas along the perimeter of the first floor in conjunction with an open air patio provide an illuminated work atmosphere. on the top level, corner spaces become intimate terraces and offices completely constructed from the exposed cubic structure.
