*사운드 파빌리온 [ Hodgetts + Fung Design and Architecture ] Wild Beast Pavilion

소리로 만들어지는 공간은 기능적인 공간과
볼륨과 깊이에 차이가 있다.
파빌리온의 메인 형상을 이루는 3개의 구조체는
악기의 울림통이 음을 안아 소리를 발생시키듯이
안으로 공간을 감아 그 안에 소리를 가둔다.
이렇게 가두어진 소리는 내부 곡면을 따라 흐르는
사운드 보드에 맺힌다. 두요소의 조합은: 소리를 환원해야 하는 공간에서는
반사를 시키고 소리가 중첩되는 공간은 소리를 흡수시키면서
내부 청중들에게 균질의 :소리를 선사한다.

연주회, 시낭송회, 리사이클,등과 같이 소규모 프로그램은 물론
외부 중정과 연계하여 대규모 콘서트나 연주회 또한 가능하도록
프로그래밍 되었다.
심미적인 탐구보다 소리가 주는 감동이
더 아름다운 볼륨으로 다가온다.

Clad in copper-hued shingles, and nestled into the berm which flanks the entry drive, the Wildbeast Pavilion is both a recital hall and an outdoor performance shell.  HplusF conceived of this performance space much as one might design a musical instrument, with an acoustically resonant form, simple adjustments to enhance performances, and functional, yet aesthetically rewarding materials.

The main volume is defined by a curving, three-dimensional form which, much like the soundboard for a stringed instrument, forms the principle structure as well as an acoustically appropriate cavity.  It is complemented by a rank of regulating windowpanes set to create a clerestory, and operated by computer-controlled servos, which act to further "tune" the resonance of the volume.  Below these windows, and extending the width of the room, are monumental retracting panels which open to convert the space into an outdoor pavilion.
