*리버프론트 테라스 하우스 [ productora ] casa diaz

멕시코 시티로 부터 몇시간 거리 떨여진 발레 드 브라보를
굽여 내려다 보는 위치에 자리 잡은 싱글훼밀리 주거는 기존 환경의 컨텍스트를
이어가는 재료와 형태로 부터 시작된다.
경사지를 적극적으로 이용하는 배치는 대지의 토포그래피를 살짝 비틀어
건축공간과 틈을 벌려 생긴 보이드를 이용하여 3개의 화이트 박스를 적층한다.
이렇게 자리 잡은 3개의 박스는 경사면을 따라 지그재그로 배치되어 각자의
워터뷰를 확보한다. 이와같은 배치는 하부에 위치한 주거의 지붕을 상부주거를
위한 테라스로 활용되며, 전면 테라스로 부터 시작된 외부 공간의
연결은 화이트박스를 투명하게 개방하는 창을 통과하여 후면 테라스까지 연결된다.

사람은 자연을 떠나 살수 없다. 특히 산과 강과 같은 거대한 자연은
우리에게 넘을 수 없는 커다란 존재이다. 이와같은 존재에게 기대는 건축공간은
우리에게 마음의 안식처 이자 휴식처로 자리 잡는다.
그렇게 건축은 자연에 기대여 그 안에서 공간의 자리를 찾아야 한다.
자연은 결코 개발의 대상이 아니라 우리가 어울리고 품어야할 존재이다.

mexican firm productora has recently completed 'casa diaz', a single family residence overlooking a lake in valle de bravo, mexico, a few hours from mexico city. positioned along a sloping site, three rectangular volumes are placed and shifted in relation to each other in a zigzagged pattern to maximize views towards the water. the exposed rooftop surfaces form terraces, gardens and sheltered patios accessible from the interior spaces. due to urban planning requirements, the residence initially appears to be a traditional style dwelling, presenting natural stone walls, wooden beams, clay roof tiles, plaster facades and small openings characteristic of the region to the street. from the lake, ribbon windows framed within clean white boxes are stacked upon each other.

upon passing the stacked stone privacy wall, an entry court is revealed within a void below the elevated second storey. inhabitants may enter or descend a landscape stairway leading from the top of the site towards the dock at water level. from inside, access to the outdoors may be attained from each level, with sliding glass walls opening to introduce breezes or lounge outside.
