A pointy, triangular showroom-gallery for Chinese developer Vanke juts from the coast of China's Dong Jiang Bay.
Created by studio Ministry of Design, the three-sided building soars skyward, topped with three acute spikes on each corner to cap the glass walls.
Guests can enter via two separate doors; one leads into a tourist
information centre and the other leads into the showroom-gallery. A
third interior area can be found at the end of the gallery, where a
discussion lounge offers panoramic views of the coast. Each of the
building's distinct areas are housed under each of the building’s three
triangle tips, respectively.
'Tectonically, the building responds
to the coastal setting and is finished in weather-sensitive corten
steel panels on its exterior,' says Colin Seah, founder of Ministry of Design. 'Timber strips on the interior walls and ceiling create a more natural feel.'
The
building will be used as a Vanke showroom-gallery for the next year; it
will then be turned into a cultural centre for the city of Tianjin.
