*토요이토, 마더앤 칠드런 뮤지엄 [ toyo ito ] ken iwata mother and child museum in ehime

일본 이마바리시 근처에 위치한 '켄 이와타 마더 앤 칠드런 뮤지엄'은 일본의

유명한 건축가 토요이토에 의해 설계된 건축박물관에 속해 있는 부속건물로써

서로 다른 세개의 슬픈사연을 담고 있는 건축적 휴식공간이다.

C자 형태의 단면이 평면상에서 원형으로 돌아가며 지붕없는 원형 콘크리트 구조물로

구축된 원형공간은 내부 그린 위에 켄 이와타 마더와 칠드런에 대한 조각상을

불규칙한 도트형식으로 배치한다.

이곳을 찾는 방문객들은 이와같이 오픈된 공간 속으로 유입되는 자연풍경과

조각품들이 하나되어 또다른 자연풍경을 만들어 내는 드라마틱한 경험을

이곳 박물관 속에서 접하게 된다.

accompanying the steel hut and silver hut that comprise the toyo ito museum of architecture, toyo ito's third structure, the 'ken iwata mother and child museum' in nearby imabari city completes the set of architectural treasures that contain the same soul yet tell three very different stories.
the roofless circular concrete structure forms an orthogonal C in section, open to the internal green lawn dotted with ken iwata's 'mother and child' sculpture series. the horizontal portal to the sky grabs a piece of the japanese landscape on display while visitors are separated from their immediate surroundings in an infinitely elliptical journey around the works of art.
