The 'Inspirations d’Ailleurs' – Inspirations from Elsewhere – windows for Printemps on
Boulevard Haussman in Paris are reminiscent of scenes from a fairy
tale. Rich warm colours and opulent materials invoke exotic cultures,
while paper sculptures take centre stage.
Textile designer and illustrator Frédérique Vernillet
designed and supervised the displays; his detailed drawings cover the
walls with tropical forests and intricate patterns. Three artists – Marianne Guély, The Makerie Studio and Little K
– created the sculptures in each window, all sharing an affinity with
paper and cardboard as media. The Makerie Studio formed three animals –
an iguana, a parrot and a falcon – using layers of textured, patterned
and iridescent papers to complement Vernillet’s illustrations.
