London-based design practice Giles Miller Studio specialises in innovative surface designs and interior design projects that deploy sculptural relief-like techniques. The studio has built up a reputation for high-quality and visually stunning surface designs that consist of small identical pixel-like elements (these are usually metal, wood or ceramic tiles) which when placed at varying angles, reflect light differently. As a result, images and shapes can be created, as well as elaborate surface textures that react to light in interesting ways. Most of the tiles are sourced within the United Kingdom, and the surfaces are assembled by hand at Giles Miller’s studio space in Spitalfields, London. Notable projects include the creation of a bespoke desk for V&A Museum in London (used as an information desk during London Design Week 2013), public installations for Clerkenwell Design Week 2012 and 2013, as well as wall murals and surface designs for prestigious clients such as British Airways, Selfridges, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Butlers Chocolate.
Giles Miller Studio has
pledged to donate a fixed sum from every project to the UK’s leading
cancer charity Cancer Research. Since the beginning of 2013, every
commissioned project now contributes to this vital charity’s endevours
to put an end to cancer once and for all.
