문화를 담는 그릇. 다인빌 도서관 증축프로젝트는 새로이 증축되는 두개의 박공지붕 형태의 볼륨을 통해 도시와의 호흡, 지역적 유산의 계승을 통한 지역문화 활성화를 꾀한다. 이전 농장의 타이폴로지를 재구성한 박공지붕형태는 현대적인 건축 디자인을 통한 장소적 의미의 재현, 도서관 내부환경의 효율성을 확보한다. 상반된 디자인 어휘는 상부에 설치된 수평 버티컬을 통한 풍부한 간접광 유입을 유도하는 볼륨과 도시와 도서관의 원활한 동선확보를 유도하는 전창으로 열린 주출입구 계획이 반영된 볼륨으로 완성된다. 이와같은 건축환경은 지역문화의 원활한 소통을 제공하는 장소로 농업문화를 대표하는 아이콘이 된다.

french studio bplusb architectures has extended the ‘dainville library’ with a pitched, barn roof addition. previously housed within an old farm building, the new structure compliments its original aesthetic. two large gable-shaped volumes face towards the street, opening their façades to the public in an urban gesture. the organization of the spaces preserves and defines the entry court, while respecting the existing building. the new frontage offers a wide entrance with a large glazed surface that is protected by a sun barrier of natural wooden fins.
the design’s outcome refers to traditional forms in order to
integrate with its surrounding environment and compliment the
agricultural origin of the area. the wooden cladding on the interior
enables necessary acoustic properties to perform well, while the steel
structure punctuates the mass without compromising the current
structure.
