어쩌면 르노삼성을 통해 sm1로 들어올뻔한 트윙고 3세대. 80년대 르노5 터보로 부터 영감 받아 리뉴얼된 디자인은 레트로와 컴템퍼러리의 알맞은 접점에서 해답을 찾았다. 또한 특이한 점, 보통 FF(앞에 엔진,앞 바퀴 구동)와는 달리 RR(뒤에 엔진, 뒷바퀴 구동)-포르쉐에서 사용 방식- 으로 조향과 구동장치 분리, 다이나믹한 드라이빙을 제공한다. 그리고 새시는 스마트와 공유, 안전성을 보장한다. 무엇보다 우리나라에서 조금 상회하는 크기로 인하여 경차혜택을 못 받는 것이 조금 안타까울 뿐이다. 매력적인 3기통 엔진이야 말해서 무엇하겠지만...

Even though the new Renault Twingo had its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show in March, the car is not yet available in the automaker’s European dealerships. To sweeten the wait for those who have been captured by the Twingo’s looks and unusual rear-wheel drive, rear engine setup, Renault has taken the city car on a tour of Europe’s major cities.

For a period of two months, the Twingo visited important cities around the Old Continent for a series of exclusive photo shoots with the media. The tour gave journalists a chance to see what the Twingo is like in the city, its “natural habitat.”

The new Twingo's rear-engine layout allowed designers to shorten the car by 100mm (3.9in), while increasing cabin length by 220mm (8.6in). As the photos show, the Twingo’s cabin can carry items of more than 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) in length if needed, while the boot has a decent volume of 219 liters (7.7 cu-ft).

Renault says the high-up driving position and “extremely good forward vision” are also useful in city driving, as is the car’s turning circle of just 4.30 meters (14.1 feet).
