1. 개요
미나노모리-기후 미디어 코스모스는 일본 기후시에 위치한 다목적 시설로, 유명한 건축가 이토 토요가 설계했다. 이 건물은 1층에 회의 공간, 스튜디오, 전시 공간이 있고 2층에 도서관이 있다.
2. 디자인 특징
2층 도서관 천장에는 직조된 섬유로 만든 거대한 우산 모양의 '글로브' 11개가 걸려 있고, 책장은 그 주변으로 방사형으로 배치되어 있다. 1층은 2층과 마찬가지로 넓은 공간으로, 방문자가 북쪽, 남쪽, 동쪽, 서쪽에서 들어올 때 어떻게 이동할지 예측하기 어려워 모든 방향에서 볼 수 있는 표지판이 필요했다.
3. 내부 구조
이 건물 내부는 큰 깔때기 모양의 지붕 구조로 읽기, 휴식, 학습 구역이 나누어져 있다. 이 곡선형 글로브는 3차원 폴리에스터로 만들어져 빛이 공간 아래로 자연스럽게 내려오게 한다.
4. 지속 가능한 기술
지붕은 격자무늬 목재와 작은 틈새로 구성되어 자연광이 도서관 아래로 흐르게 하고, 돔은 태양빛을 특정 각도로 굴절시켜 빛을 고르게 분산시킨다.
5. 건축 요소
1층 중앙에는 책장과 갤러리가 있는 유리로 된 인클로저가 있고, 2층은 나선형의 나무 유닛과 원형 배치의 가구로 열린 공간의 도서관을 구성한다. 이는 나선형 계획의 특성을 더욱 강조한다.

designed to integrate sustainable technologies, the roof canopy is a composition of latticed wood, with interstitial openings allowing natural light to flood the library below. the domes assist in this, not only providing visual interest with their shape, but also by ensuring that sunlight refracts at particular angles to disperse solar gain more evenly throughout the building.
