일본 고베에 위치한 바인-헤어살롱은 도시외곽의 쇼핑가에 위치하고 있다. 이곳의 수장이 원하는 바대로, 많은 손님을 받기 보다는 손님에게 넓직한 공간을 제공하는 데 그 디자인의 목적을 두었다.
헤어살롱의 이름 자체도, 최상위층을 위한 공간으로 만들고자 했던 살롱 사장의 욕구를 그대로 드러낸다. 바인 헤어살롱은 개별적이면서도 서로 연계가 된 독특한 능력을 가지고 있다. 이를 표현하기 위해 건축가들은 자연스러운 형태를 공장처럼 인테리어 전반에 걸처 하나의 지붕을 만들기로 했다.
살롱의 사장은 고객들이 이 곳에서 보내는 시간을 즐길 수 있는 공간이 필요하다고 요했고 이는 자신들이 외부에 있는 것과 같이 열린 공간의 느낌을 받을 수 있도록 하는 컨셉으로 이어졌다.
아치형 모양의 천정을 따라 파이프가 놓여 있고, 와인 농장과 같은 가벼운 질감으로 덮여진 천정은 위치나 높이가 자유롭게 변화될 수 있다. 좌석들은 서로 멀찍이 떨어져 있으며, 각 의자는 책장을 통해 구분되어 손님 간 시야를 가려준다.
Vine is an hair salon located in a shopping district on the outskirts of the city. The site was spacious, offering more room than necessary to accommodate the number of clients the owner wanted to serve.
The store name is based on the owner’s desire to make connections the top priority. Vines have the unique ability to grow individually and then connect. To represent that, the architects decided to build a roof that acts as the natural form of a plant, weaving itself across the interior.

The owner’s desire was to provide a space where clients would enjoy spending time, perhaps reading a book. Beneath the vine roof, there is both the feeling of openness associated with being outdoors, as well as the feeling of comfort associated with being inside.
By running the pipes along the ceiling in an arch shape, and wrapping the light fixtures like vines, is possible to freely change their location and height. The arches create the feeling that the ceiling is floating upward, and that the entire salon is protected by the roof. The seats are spaced far apart, and each one is separated by a bookshelf, blocking the views between them.
