Recently opened in Singapore is COO, a new boutique hostel aimed at millennials, that has a bar, a bistro, an outdoor space, and a social app.
The hostel was completed by Ministry of Design, and not only did they design the space, they also designed the graphics and a digital interest-matching tool aimed at connecting like-minded hostel guests. This app allows guests to book, login & chat with other guests who have the same overlapping dates and the same interests. They can also sign up for Supper Club via the app, to meet other hostel guests for a special set dinner at the Bistro.

The hostel reception area is a small space tucked away behind decorative metal mesh screens, with an elevator taking you to one of the four floors of accommodation.

On the four floors of accommodation, there are 11 newly furnished rooms with bunk beds, enabling a total of 68 beds. Each bunk has a private locker, a lamp for late-night reading, quality bedding and towel, a universal socket for charging electronics and unlimited WIFI. If you happen to be a female travelling by herself, they also have female-only rooms available too.

Here’s a look at some of the graphics that explain to guests where they should place their luggage.

In the shared bathrooms, there are rain showers and custom-designed soap and shampoo graphics. A large back-lit mirror provides a soft glow to the room.

There’s also an open private terrace just for guests, and if they want to get out and about in Singapore, the hostel also has free bike rental.
