The company was founded in 1961 by New York interior designerRobin Roberts on the premise that design integrity was a goal thatcould be achieved through uncompromising artistry and technicalquality. Eventually, Clarence House became involved in every aspect ofthe creative process, with its own design studio and in-house artdirector Kazumi Yoshida. Yoshida, with a vast network of European millsand textile archives at his disposal, still controls the evolution ofeach design from the initial concept to the finished product.

 

 

Through the years, Clarence House has supplied the furnishingfabrics for pre-eminent museums and countless historic houses and hasbeen consistently featured in every important design and architecturalmagazine. Printed Fabrics

Clarence House is known worldwide for its prints. Many patternsare inspired by the finest textile designs from the 17th, 18th and 19thcenturies and the first half of the 20th century.

Clarence House offers luxurious velvets, high-style jacquards,tapestries, boucles, chenilles, horsehairs, matelasses, textured plainsand stripes, wools, plaids and checks.
