CCA Centro de Colaboración Arquitectónica-Orchid Pavilion
카사 와비를 위해 설계되어 2024년 2월 3일에 개관한 오키드 파빌리온은 푸에르토 에스콘디도 외곽의 바다와 산 사이에 위치해 있습니다. 오악사카 지역의 난초 보존을 위해 영구적이고 지속 가능하며 가벼운 목조 구조물로, 생물학적 다양성과 문화적 다양성 사이의 밀접한 관계를 강조합니다. 카사 와비의 난초 파빌리온 디자인에 접근하면서 연구 결과 몇 가지 명확한 기술적 특징, 구성 요소, 사실에 주목하게 되었습니다. 난초를 재배, 번식, 수집하기 위해서는 습하고 부분적으로 그늘이 있으며 통풍이 잘 되는 등 난초가 번성하기에 적합한 환경을 조성해야 한다는 것이 분명해졌습니다. 하지만 더 흥미로운 것은 단순함, 불완전함, 파격에서 아름다움과 조화를 찾을 수 있다고 믿는 일본의 와비사비 철학과 오악사카 해안의 풍부하고 복잡한 전통, 즉 현지에서 조달되는 토속적인 재료와 현지 장인들의 수준 높은 작품 사이의 관계가 제안의 중심이 되어야 했다는 점입니다. 그러다 문득 일본어로 '이키가이'라는 단어가 떠올랐습니다. translate by DeepL
The Orchid Pavilion, designed for Casa Wabi and inaugurated on February 3rd, 2024, is located on the outskirts of Puerto Escondido, between the sea and the mountains. It is a wooden structure, permanent, sustainable, and lightweight, dedicated to the conservation of orchids in the Oaxaca region, which highlights the strong relationship between the biological and cultural diversity of the landscape.
As we approached the design of the Orchid Pavilion at Casa Wabi, our research pointed toward some clear technical features, components, and facts. It became evident that in order to grow, reproduce, and collect orchids, we needed to create the right environment for them to thrive: humid, partially shaded, and well-ventilated.
But more interestingly, the relationship between the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which believes that beauty and harmony are found in simplicity, imperfection, and unconventionality, and the rich and complex traditions of the Oaxacan coast—its vernacular, locally sourced materials, and the high quality of the artisanal works of the local craftsmen—were to be at the center of our proposal. Then, unexpectedly, we thought of the Japanese word Ikigai.
Ikigai (生き斐, ‘a reason for being‘) could be roughly translated as the happiness of being busy. The term combines two Japanese words: iki (生き, meaning ‘life or alive’) and kai (甲斐, meaning ‘an effect, result, fruit, or worth’), resulting in ‘a reason for being alive’.
