유기적 형태와 조율된 빛의 조화
중국 난징에 자리한 15,000제곱미터 규모의 복층 공간, 더 포트(THE PORT)는 럭셔리 자동차 쇼룸의 새로운 가능성을 제시합니다. 와이에스프랙티스는 유기적인 기하학과 절제된 명암 대비, 그리고 정밀하게 조율된 빛을 융합하여 자동차가 놓인 공간 전체를 몰입감 넘치는 연속적 풍경으로 재해석했습니다. 확고한 미래지향적 감각이 돋보이는 이 공간은 방문객을 탁 트인 전시 홀에서 아늑하고 사적인 라운지로 자연스럽게 이끕니다. 전시된 차량이 품고 있는 공학적 정교함과 조각적 명료함은 건축 환경 그 자체로 고스란히 확장됩니다.
공기역학을 빼닮은 미래지향적 디자인
내부에 들어서면 매끄럽고 세련된 공간이 깊은 몰입감을 선사합니다. 전시된 차량의 공기역학적 실루엣과 매끄러운 차체를 건축 공간에 그대로 투영한 결과입니다. 유려한 곡선과 볼륨감 있는 형태, 빛을 반사하는 마감재가 어우러져 미래지향적인 감성을 완성합니다. 시야를 가로막는 인위적인 경계 없이, 벽은 천장으로 이음새 없이 부드럽게 흘러갑니다. 둥글게 부풀어 오른 천장과 표면 곳곳에 유려하게 파인 원형 홈들은 건축 구조와 조명의 완벽한 융합을 보여주며 공간이 지닌 조각적 감각을 한층 극대화합니다.

주요 전시 공간은 웅장한 기둥이 늘어선 드넓은 홀이 연속적으로 펼쳐지는 구조를 띱니다. 시선을 위로 향하면 유려하게 흐르는 천장 면을 따라 돌출된 원형 천창과 빛을 머금은 유기적 형태의 절개면이 눈을 사로잡습니다. 길게 뻗은 조명 슬롯들이 이와 교차하며 만들어내는 규칙적인 율동감은 방문객의 발걸음을 자연스럽게 공간 깊숙이 이끕니다. 발밑 바닥 면에 섬세하게 새겨진 곡선들 역시 물리적인 장벽 없이 동선을 유도하며, 이 공간 특유의 유연한 속도감을 조용히 뒷받침합니다.

Engineered Precision Meets Sculptural Clarity in a Futuristic Car Showroom in Nanjing
Occupying 15,000 square metres across two floors in Nanjing, THE PORT by YSPractice reconceives the luxury car showroom as a continuous, immersive landscape shaped by fluid geometry, controlled contrast and precisely calibrated light. Defined by a distinctly futuristic sensibility, the project unfolds as a sequence of flowing spaces that move visitors from expansive display halls to more intimate zones, in an environment engineered with the same precision and sculptural clarity as the cars it showcases.
Underpinning the project’s immersive rigour and sleek sophistication is an all encompassing futuristic design language of sinuous lines, curvaceous volumes, and reflective finishes that echo the aerodynamic profiles and polished bodywork of the vehicles on show. Walls curve seamlessly into ceilings; ceilings swell into bulbous forms, and rounded recesses are carved into surfaces, while the seamless fusion of architecture and lighting further reinforces the scheme’s sculptural sensibility.
The main exhibition spaces are organised as a progression of expansive, column lined halls, where protruding oculi, illuminated organic cut-outs and elongated light slots punctuate the sweeping ceiling planes overhead, establishing a rhythmic pulse that draws the eye and body forward. Below, subtle curved lines traced into the flooring quietly reinforce this sense of momentum, directing circulation without physical barriers.
A restrained monochromatic palette of beige tones amplifies this streamlined sensibility while ensuring the vehicles remain the focal point. Darker accents such as black marble flooring inlays, charcoal wall panels, deep green sofas and a dark bronze reception desk introduce depth and contrast, serve to animate the interior, lending it a measured sophistication without disrupting its visual clarity.
The same design language carries through into the VIP lounge, albeit moderated into quieter, more restrained forms. Here, lighter toned wood surfaces introduce warmth, while contemporary furniture in earthy hues softens the futuristic envelope with measured comfort, lending the space a subtle clubhouse atmosphere.
As is the case throughout THE PORT, the architecture reads as a single, cohesive gesture, translating the speed, precision and refinement of high-performance automobiles into a carefully orchestrated spatial experience.
