어반 보이드: 지면으로 부터 파여진 6개의 호의 자취는 문화센터와 도시를 연결하는
접점의 경계를 형성합니다. 중국 상주에 새로이 건립될 문화센터는 도시의 문화활동 증진을
목적으로 미술관, 과학관 및 기술박물관 그리고 도서관 시설을 계획합니다.
이러한 프로그램들은 대지와 건축물이 만나면서 비워진 6개의 호를 제외한
건축공간 안에 거대한 캔틸레버 구조를 이루며 담기게 됩니다.
이와같이 하부로 부터 들려진 공간은 하부에 안락한 쉘터와 같은 아웃도어 스페이스를
형성하게 합니다.-어반보이드로 인하여 건축물이 캔틸레버가 된 것인지,
거대한 캔틸레버 구조물을 계획하다보니 반중정의 홀이 형성이 된 것인지,
그것은 아마도 도시와 공간을 연결하는 접점에서 발생하는 상호작용에 의해
동시적으로 형성되었다고 보는게 맞는 것 같습니다.:상호 동시성-
이러한 쉘터는 도시 커뮤니티의 안정적인 보장을 하는 어반보이드로 형성되며
대지로 연결되는 수변커뮤니티 공간의 정점을 이루게 됩니다.
-어반보이드는 단순히 비워진 공간이 아니라 다양한 프로그램을 수용하기 위하여
플렉서블하게 남겨진 공간을 의미합니다.-
상주문화센터 계획안은 이런점에서
거대한 건축물이 어떻게 도시와 만나야 하는지를 보여주는 좋은 프로젝트 입니다.

hamburg-based gmp architekten have produced the winning proposal for the 'changzhou culture center' in the newly
developed center of changzhou, china. with a gross floor area of 365,000 square meters, the complex will host an art museum, science and technology museum and library with additional support facilities for the city's xinbei district. comprised of six modules, the arced forms mimic cantilevered bridges. an inviting environment of elaborate water features and landscaping surrounding the structure produce gathering points for visitors.
