avant+bakery is a minimalist space located in Seoul, South Korea, designed by oftn studio. The design of the bakery aims to embody this brand identity, turning to the innate characteristics of raw materials and combining elements of traditional European architecture with modern design. The intention behind this design was to create a harmonious fusion between the old and the new, reflecting the very essence of the brand itself. One of the distinct design elements used is the patterned floor design, reminiscent of a town square. Alongside this, there are concrete counters and bread stands, which while providing a functional role, also double as aesthetic installations. These raw concrete elements are symbolic of the bakery’s dedication to authenticity and quality.

Avang has prioritized variety in their seating arrangement. It features bar tables with outside views, stone tables for larger groups, and tables designed to accommodate between 2 to 4 patrons. This ensures that everyone can find a suitable spot, whether they come alone, in pairs, or in groups. The design of the bakery ensures the patrons’ psychological comfort by using minimally visual pillars, giving a sense of privacy within the public space. The walls, serving as a backdrop to the kitchen and refrigerated beverage storage, are designed to contrast with the high ceilings, lending the space an amplified sense of scale. The entrance route is meticulously planned, guiding the customers from the coffee bar to the bakery stand, and eventually to the refrigerated beverage stand, ensuring an efficient customer journey throughout the space.
