*불가사리, 레고 블록 하이스쿨 [ McBride Charles Rya ] Fitzroy High School, Melbourne

레고블록을 쌓아 올린 듯한
불가사리 형태의 재미있는 건축물은
단순한 호기심이나 형태적 아이텐티만을 위해
계획되어진 것은 아니다.
불가사리 형태는 새로운 교육 커리큘럼에
적합하도록 계획되어진 평면을
레이별로 쌓아 올려 구축하였다.

4개의 커다란 스튜디오 공간으로
구성된 내부 공간은
오픈스타일 강의와 소그룹의 스터디가 용이하도록
계획되어 자연스럽게 스탭 및 학생들이
분리된 라운지와 시설물들을 유기적으로
이용 할 수 있도록 구성되었다.
 프로그램에 반응하는 공간구성은
그 다이나믹한 형태 만큼이나
효율적이며 창조적인 공간구성으로
거주자에게 창조적인 아이디어를
할 수 있도록 도와준다.
이렇듯 공간은 단순히 태양과 비를 피하는 공간이
아닌 삶의 패턴을 변화시키고
각 개인의 발전에 지대한 영향을 끼친다.

외부 벽돌의 다양한 패턴 또한
형태만큼이나 유기적인 구성을 보여주는데
여러가지 컬러의 조합과 구성이
레고 블록을 겹겹히 쌓아 올린 듯한
느낌마저 들게 한다.

This project is an addition to the Fitzroy High School to provide a three storey facility for Years 11 and 12.
 
This school has pioneered new teaching methods actively pursue team teaching, collaborative and project based learning. The school has developed a curriculum and approach that is structured around 'the arts'.

It was important that this new building respond to their teaching approach and MCR worked collaborative with the staff to develop this facility. Four large studio spaces were developed and the building carefully shaped so that they could accommodate a variety of learning modalities from open style lecture to small intimate gatherings.
 
Staff, student lounge and other facilities were distributed throughout the facility.
A ground floor studio space has been designed to act at times as an exhibition and community meeting space.
