다양한 예술활동과 전시를 개최함으로써 멕시코 시티 내에 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 형성하기

위한 기존 스패니쉬 문화센터 증축 프로젝트 입니다.

공간은 디자인은 다양한 활동을 수용하기 위하여 높은 층고의 기둥이 없는 무주공간으로

설계하여 놀이, 쇼, 아이들의 다양한 활동, 극장, 샵, 컨퍼런스 룸과 세미나와 같은

프로그램을 만족시킵니다.  문화센터의 볼륨은 인접해 있는 역사적인 건축물의

크기와 같이합니다. 여기에 노출콘크리트와 코르텐 스틸 판넬로 마감되는 외피는

지역적 특색을 반영하는 동시에 현대적인 건축적 디테일을 표현합니다.

다양한 구조시스템은 문화센터가 담고 있는 다양한 공간 기능에 맞도록 구현됩니다.

같은 재료도 각기 다른 요소에 사용됨에 따라 그 특성을 달리합니다.

예를 들어 콘크리트의 경우는 바닥에는 물갈기 처리된 폴리싱 콘리트를, 내외부 다양한

벽의 질감을 위해서 사용되는 노출콘크리트는 장소에 따라 거칠게 또는 부드럽게 다듬어진

형태로 사용됩니다.

다양한 공간을 밀집되어 있지만 각 개성이 살아 있는 스패니쉬 문화센터는

다양한 맛을 한번에 느낄 수 있는 레인보우 아이스크림 같습니다.

mexican firms JSª and arquitectura 911sc have recently extended the existing 'spanish cultural center' in mexico city to house a wider range of artistic events and exhibits, while linking diverse zones of the city with a strong public presence. the spaces are designed with a longer floor-to-ceiling height and a column-less floor plan to facilitate plays, shows, children's activities, theaters, shops, conference rooms and seminars. proportions are informed by the neighboring historic buildings to maintain the vernacular while the use of exposed concrete and corten steel panels mimic the local color palette and conserve the added contemporary language. 

a variety of structural systems were implemented throughout the project to include and define an eclectic range of functions. a variety of treatments are used with the concrete for differing elements, polished for the floors, rough plasters and smooth finishes with exposed ties for interior and exterior partitions. white metal beams create columns and large box trusses that make up part of the skeleton of the construct, contrasted with the warm rich tones of the wooden doors. glass panes of varying transparencies create visual layers through windows and floor planes.
