예로부터 라디오 부터 티브이 까지 본래의 구조와 기능을 은폐시키는 것도 디자인의 큰 역할이었다. 요즘 많이 보이는 유선형, 곡면형의 디자인은 왠지 이러한 측면을 의도하든, 하지 않았든 크게 부각시키는 듯 하다. 물론 예전 라디오 소파를 만들던 시절의 껍데기를 만드는 것과는 다른 생각과 이유를 가지고 있을텐데 그 시간의 간극과 다른 이유들이 쉽게 손에 잡히진 않는다. 프로그램, 기능과 외피의 관계는 더 이상 종속적인 것이 아닌, 외피 자체만으로도 의미를 전달 할 수 있다는 자신감에 대한 표현이라고만 생각하기엔 뭔가 부족한. 한번쯤 생각해 볼 만 한 이슈가 아닐까.
