지속가능한 건축은 지역적 특성을 투영한 건축환경에서 찾을 수 있으며, 이를 통해 수립된 공간은 다시 다양한 방법으로 인간에게 쾌적한 거주환경을 제공한다. 리차드 브랜손의 특유한 휴양시설 "마하리 므주리"는 케냐 나이로비 서쪽으로 240km에 위치한 케냐 자연보전지역 내 럭셔리 사파리 캠프에 위치, 풍부한 자연환경과 건축의 조우를 지향한다. 마사이족 거주지역내 생태환경의 보전을 위한 지속가능한 건축은 경량구조재를 이용한 최소한의 인공구조물 구축 -자연에 최소한의 피해를 가하는-과 지역재료 사용 및 지역주민들 고용, 채용으로 지역경제의 동반성장을 진행한다. 총 12채의 개별거주공간은 지형을 따라 적정 거리로 배치되며 작렬하는 태양으로 내부를 보호하는 거대한 텐트형태로 디자인된다. -안락한 라운지와 개별 욕실이 내장된 침실이 구성된다.- 각 개별 유닛은 지역적 기후와 지형적 특성을 반영, 로컬건축을 연장한다.

situated within the maasai mara ecosystem, the
development has been configured to minimize environmental impact with
lightweight structures that promote low density tourism. established in
collaboration with the neighboring community, the sustainable approach
sees the promotion and hiring of local workers and the use of regionally
sourced materials. the program features an on-site infinity pool and
spa treatments for guests, with twice daily game drives and guided walks
and tours to local villages.
twelve tented suites are perched on an elevated ridge each with a large deck overlooking the sprawling plains and valleys below. each individual dwelling comprises a comfortable lounge area and a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom. completed by canvas specialists byDESIGN, the lightweight structures are adapted to the local climate and terrain, with arched canopies that visually blend into the environment – an original design that incorporate traditional elements of the region’s architecture. the interiors feature bespoke furnishings chosen by real studios, with bamboo light fittings, basket-woven lamps and wooden furniture.
